Global Warming is a tool to fundamentally restructure human civilization, to build the “worker`s paradise“ by other means. In that it is grossly dishonest, although there are many people who really believe the fishtale told them-and many scientists have been seduced by the elegant models and reality-challenged assertions, largely because “all the cool kids are doing it“ and it means prestige to join the “majority“. This is an old tactic, one employed for decades by the Left. Consider “Comprehensive Immigration Reform“ and notice how Republicans jumped on board this terrible speedwagon despite every reason to believe it would increase illegal immigration; all the cool kids were doing it. This same technique has given us the welfare state, prohibition, Direct election of Senators, etc. etc. The environmentalist movement applied it to science, enticing the early pioneers with kudos and money, and now many are on board because of groupthink. No one wants to be called a fool  . . . more.

Christmas is here and the Christmas season will continue on into January.  Of course, many say Christmas is too commercial, whatever that means.  I suspect it’s a statement made by those who don’t celebrate the Birth of the Christ, having found some ‘reason’ to ‘not like’ Christianity by finding some . . . hypocrisy, willing ignoring the fallen state of the Man found in the Bible, which was why Jesus Christ came to save the world from sin to begin with. 

Or they’re atheists.  Or rather militant atheists, because it must be kept in mind that there are atheists who, while not believers, do understand that without Christianity there would be no Western culture.  I have no quarrel with atheists or any non-believers. 

But Militant atheism is not a winner, because militant atheists try to convert others through insult and suppression.  That is suppressing the beliefs of others, just like their other atheistic kin:  Marxists and the associated ‘isms’.   Militant atheists forget that Atheism has much blood on its hands and that red river flows from Siberia to Southeast Asia and on into Africa.

I’m always reading how an atheist is asking a religious person ‘questions’ but never gets ‘answers.’  How come one never asks me?   I’ve met all kinds of people with all kinds of beliefs from Orthodox Christian to Hindu to Buddhists and Muslim.  Wicca and Satanists as well (I’m not pairing these two up.  It was part of the flow of writing.)  That last atheist I met was over twenty years ago, and he was trying to do nothing more than what every Christian was doing then as well as now.  That is working, paying taxes and loving his family. 

I do like quoting G.K. Chesterton: 

“Without God there’d be no Atheists.”

I read an atheist’s quote once, which went something like this:

“It is said that there are no atheist in foxhole, but with atheists there’s no need for foxholes.” 

Having read more than my share of Twentieth century history, I do believe that it’s true and I say: 

“Atheists don’t dig foxholes because so many of them are too busy building the camps using slave labor.”  

But!  Enough of that for the time being, it is Christmas and time for great and wondrous revelations.  Merry Christmas.

At the turn of the last century, great naval fleets steaming over the Seven Seas was a cause for great pride, or concern, depending on who owned the ships.  The same is being thought about the Russian navy as joint naval exercises with Venezuela are completed and a ‘docking’ party is scheduled with Cuba.  This report about the Russian navy heading for Havana seems serious:  

A group of Russian warships will from December 19-23 visit the Communist island of Cuba, a long-time adversary of the United States and Moscow's ally in the Cold War, the Russian navy said on Monday.

"This will be the first visit to Cuba by Russian warships since the Soviet era," the Russian naval headquarters said in a statement.

The destroyer Admiral Chabanenko and two other ships will visit Havana in what the navy described as a "significant practical step towards strengthening and developing ties between the two states' navies."

Of course, mentioning the ol’ Cold War days is a way of spicing up the story by conjuring up images of May Day parades, pressed uniforms and shiny medals, and great rivalries.  But instead of a decisive marshalling of forces, the Russian naval maneuvering could be more of a screening exercise as falling oil prices damaged the Russian economy, and the Russian stock market has seen government shutdowns.  Russia like OPEC is inclined to cut oil production:

A Russian official uttered the word for ‘recession’ just a few days ago.  Couple that with fears of ‘unrest’ and the squelching of a banned (i.e. illegal) opposition protest in Red Square, sending ships to Cuba maybe the only ‘positive’ distraction the Russian government has left.

When the media has to put a positive spin on rising oil prices, we know the media is against the average American saving a buck:

Oil prices rebounded from a nearly 4-year low Monday as U.S. automakers neared a deal that would keep them out of bankruptcy and President-elect Barack Obama pledged to stimulate the economy of the world's largest oil consumer. 

Not only does the media want the price to go up, they have to PC-jack slap Americans by saying we’re the ‘world's largest oil consumer,’ because in the PC world being a consumer is always bad . . . at least in America.

And remember when high gas prices meant that Big Oil was the villain?  Well, here you have the media, after a fashion, shilling for the oil companies.  “Oil prices will be hard pressed to turn significantly higher unless they can rise back above $45.90 a barrel, said Flynn [senior market analyst with Alaron Trading in Chicago].”

Poor oil companies.  They can’t get 45 buck for a barrel.   But that also means that the government isn’t getting it own monetary ‘fix’ for its Tax-dollar Addiction.  But there is hope!

Possible OPEC cuts: Oil's rapid decline in price since July has been a major concern for countries that rely on oil profits, and December could see some large cuts in production.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, an international trade cartel whose members produce about 40% of the world's oil, plans to meet next Wednesday in Algeria to discuss the problem.

The oil markets should prepare for a "severe" cut in production levels, according to OPEC President Chakib Khelil in an interview with The Associated Press.

Khelil did not say how much the organization would cut, but analysts estimate about 2 million barrels per day.

The organization already pledged to cut 1.5 million barrels per day at an emergency meeting in October. 

We all know the media lives in a land of alternating poles of villainy.  At one time, OPEC, that nasty, underhanded, price fixing ‘international trade cartel whose members produce about 40% of the world's oil,’ would’ve been vilified!  Though only for American’s public consumption.  The media never really means it. 

But just wait, if the price of gas goes any lower, there will be hell to pay!  And we’ll be doing it at the pump.

In a run-off, Congressman William Jefferson, infamous for his commandeering of a National Guard vehicle in effort to save a stash of cash in his freezer, loses.  Considering the level of corruption associated with Jefferson, though he hasn’t gone to trial yet, even Democrats have tired of him: 

With the upset victory, Anh "Joseph" Cao, a eastern New Orleans attorney who fled war-ravaged Saigon as a child, becomes the first Vietnamese-American in Congress. He will represent a district that was specifically drawn to give African-Americans an electoral advantage and one in which two of every three voters are registered Democrats.

But who is Joseph Cao? 

Joseph Cao is a Catholic lawyer and former Jesuit scholastic from New Orleans.  […]

Few candidates for public office are as forthright as Cao when asked about their position on abortion. “I am very anti-abortion,” he told me without hesitation. Cao would like to overturn Roe, but in the meantime, “We have to find a way to defeat Roe without having to overturn it.”

His solid pro-life credentials are attested to by the endorsement of the FRC Action PAC, among others.

At age 41, Cao has been married for seven years to Hieu, also called “Kate,” and has two children, Sophia 5 and Betsy 4. Kate is a pharmacist who works to “pay the bills while I play politician,” Joseph told me. They met at a Marian festival at Our Lady La Vang Parish, a Vietnamese Catholic congregation in New Orleans.

Apparently, being prolife wasn’t an issue.  Nor was his Catholicism.  President-elect Barak Obama’s win couldn’t save William Jefferson.  But Anh "Joseph" Cao’s take on his congressional run was this:

“The election of Barack Obama suggests that people are willing to cross party and racial lines to vote for the person they think is best for the country and will bring accountability back into politics.”

As Democrat William Jefferson is retired from the political scene, and maybe off to jail, the Republican list, topped by Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal, can now added Anh "Joseph" Cao.

But, I am sure Cao’s win is not the kind of ‘change’ Barak Obama or the Democrat party is really interested in.

If you didn’t watch or read the news, how would you know if the economy was in recession?  By the price of gas?  No.  Gas prices have been dropping for weeks.  Maybe the price of food, but food prices had gone up months ago with the price of gas, which is presently, dropping?

Again, how do you know the economy is in recession?  The unemployment rate?  Presently, I don’t know anyone whose unemployed or even facing the possibility of unemployment. 

But we are in recession, the MSM says.  Of course they’ve been talking down the economy for about a year or more.   Anyone who’s willing to see and say the truth and that any economic problem was created by the failure of Fannie May and Freddie Mac, two government back financial institutions, which Democrats have run, Democrats by the name of Barry Frank and Chris Dodd.  Let us not forget those names.

Now, how do you know the economy was in recession, if you didn’t watch TV?

Me?  My life will go on.  So will yours.  Recession or no recession.  Just don’t let the government rob you blind bailing everyone else out.

Anthropomorphic (Manmade) Global Warming is not the dire concern radical environmentalists and alarmists what it to be.  One reason is the bad science and the international politicization of the supposed crisis.

Since the science of AGW and the motives of those promoting the ‘crisis’ are in doubt, struggling post-Soviet nations have other and more important and immediate concerns, such as basic environmental problems left by the dissolution of their totalitarian masters.  For instance:

Before next week's giant international climate conference to be held in Poznań, the daily RZECZPOSPOLITA has published results of a probe on climate change, showing that Poles are more worried about other threats than global warming.

In spite of all the campaigns against global warming, 53% of Poles said that air pollution was their biggest concern, followed by 35% who said water pollution.

Global warming came third at 34%, followed by 26% respondents worried over contaminated food, 17% over forests and 9% over arable land.

Again, AGW is obviously the least of their concerns, especially when centralized government already trashed the countryside.

Also, George W. Bush, American and the “War on Terror” are newcomers to the India-Pakistan dispute over Kashmir and have nothing to do with it. 

So, for those hoping to bask in the new hope the past presidential election was going to bring, well, elections don’t make terrorism go away.  Maybe two years of Democrat denomination of the Federal government will wake a few people—not a lot, just few.  Those who don’t see the hop they’re looking for will increase the tint on their rose-colored glasses and still pretend it’s Bush’s fault.
